Software programming to connect LCA (Life cycle assessment) database with IAMs (Integrated Assessment Models)

Life cycle assessment (LCA) has become an essential tool to perform sustainability assessment of products and processes. Estimating impacts of activities in future is challenging because supporting systems such as power generation, transport infrastructure and so on may change. Therefore, integrated assessment models (IAMs) need to be connected with LCA software to provide accurate estimates of activities in the future. Such an integrated tool will be very important to accurately plan the net zero transition by 2070.

In this project, the student is expected to develop computer programs (mostly in Python) to connect India specific IAMs with LCA database. The work will require studying the software related issues on both ends and develop the code accordingly. Once the code is developed, the resulting tool will be used to perform analysis of selected products and processes.

This is completely computational work.
