Catalyst and process development for Sustainable Plasma-catalytic Methane Valorization

Selective and sustainable conversion of methane to valuable higher hydrocarbons is a highly sought after goal. Catalysis in the presence of non-thermal plasma is an emerging technology that can be used to selectively valorize methane using renewable electricity as an energy source.

This project will involve plant-wide process modeling, optimization, and techno-economic evaluation of the conversion of natural gas into valuable C2+ hydrocarbons using a sustainable plasma-catalytic reactor system. The student will get training in process modeling for a new technology, along with exposure to catalyst synthesis and evaluation experiments for model validation.
