Drying of thin multicomponent polymer films

This project is about drying of polymer films made by casting a thin wet film of solution consisting of a polymer in two solvents.  These are removed after casting a film by blowing hot air across the film; the air temperature, its flow rate, composition of the wet film, its thickess constitute the operating conditions  The drying behaviour of the films is to be studied by mathematical modeling.  The optimization of the drying conditions is to be carried out to ensure that the films dry without developing bubbles during drying.  For this project, the student should be familiar with computer coding, and have experience with MATLAB or similar software.
