Understanding the fluid mechanics of thin liquid flows is important in the area of paints and coatings. The goal of the proposed project is to investigate the coating a thin viscoelastic liquid on a moving substrate. We will explore both the generalised Newtonian fluid (power-law) and the Oldryod-B model fluid to predict the thickness of the liquid coated on a moving substrate. Students interested in applied mathematics may apply for the project.
