Hi, my name is Aditya Ganesh. I completed my B.E. in Chemical engineering from Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, University of Mumbai in the year 2020 followed by M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur in the year 2022. At present I am pursuing Ph.D. from the IITB-Monash Research Academy under the guidance of Dr. Jason R. Picardo, Chemical Engineering Department, IIT Bombay and Dr. Prabhakar Ranganathan, Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department, Monash University, Australia.

My research experience ranges from constructing reactors to writing codes for handling big data from industries. During my undergrad, I constructed a Slurry Bubble Column Reactor and carried out experiments for determining an empirical correlation of the bubble size. For my post-graduation, I undertook two major projects. The first one was a departmental project of IIT Jodhpur where I studied the pre-heat train fouling problem of seven IOCL Refineries. The second one was my master’s thesis where a photocatalytic reactor was constructed, and a Multiphysics model was developed in Ansys Fluent. The topic for my current Ph.D. research is “Complex fluid dynamics of viscoelastic polymer solutions”. In this study the problem of turbulent friction that occurs while transporting fluids through pipes and ducts will be addressed. It has been noted that adding a small amount of polymer to the fluid helps in the Turbulent Drag Reduction (TDR), which in turn reduces the turbulent friction by a great margin. The research studies will also go into depth of understanding the mechanisms of this phenomenon.

Apart from my research interests, I am also an All-India Radio graded artist in Carnatic Flute & performed several concerts. Playing cricket, football and watching TV debates are my other hobbies. To know more about me, you can connect with me via LinkedIn: Aditya Ganesh | LinkedIn
