Research Summary:

My research focus is on understanding the role of multidrug-resistant efflux pumps in conferring antibiotic resistance in the genus Streptomyces and Mycobacteria. The primary aim of the work is to identify the important substrate binding sites in the MDR efflux pumps that would help us in uncovering the secret of their substrate promiscuity. Moreover, it would help us in targeting the efflux pumps as an effective strategy to overcome antimicrobial resistance.
