optimization of thermal reclamation process
Resin is used as a binding material to make molds of sand in various application (e.g. foundry). The resin deposited on sand is burnt in a fluidised bed reactor to reclaim the sand after its use. The work involves auditing the existing design, its techno-economics and suggesting the modifications. It is a combination both experimental and simulation work and the extent would vary based on student's interest.
