Modeling electroporation in Vesicles and neuronal Cells

The project would involve modeling electroporation in vesicles to predict uptake of dyes and nanoparticles. Electroporation is a process of creating nanometer-sized pores in a bilayer membrane on the application of electric field. The  project would involve modeling number and size of pores on a cell membrane on application of pulsed electric fields with different parameters, such as pulse size, pulse strength, number of pulses etc, and thereby predict the uptake of drugs or nanoparticles. The project would then require to extend the formalism to model neuronal electroporation. This part would involve setting up a mathematical model based on the Hodgkin-Huxley framework, and then incorporate electroporation in this framework.
