Loading of drugs in biodegradable polymers using supercritical carbon dioxide
The proposed work involves loading of hydrophobic drugs in biodegradable polymers using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) as the medium for loading. The loading procedures will be analyzed to understand the differences in loading obtained by adsorption and precipitation. The former occurs during the contact time of drug-laden scCO2 with the polymer, and the latter happens during depressurization. Also, the release studies of the loaded drug is to be analyzed through experiments and modeling.
