Developing a working prototype of a Zn ion battery
The project builds on recent work conducted in the laboratory on Zn ion-based batteries (1,2). A Master's student is already working on developing a prototype. The next phase will involve exploring the replacement of the zinc metal electrode, potentially using coated aluminum electrodes, and experimenting with several Prussian blue analogs as the intercalating compound.
The battery fabrication process requires further refinement, emphasizing delivering the electrolyte without contamination from moisture or oxygen. The student is expected to learn the fundamentals of battery fabrication methods developed by the group. It is worth noting that the fabrication methods used for this battery are unique and need to be developed in-house.
This experimental project will include analytical electrochemical characterization techniques such as voltammetry and current/potential control methods.
