Title
BATCHES: Simulator for Multiproduct and Multipurpose Batch Processes

Abstract:
The BATCHES simulator has been designed specifically for the needs of multiproduct and multipurpose batch processes used in pharmaceutical, specialty chemical and food industries. By combining the operational and design features of a process, a simulation model allows you to evaluate alternative system configurations and operating procedures, to size equipment, and to evaluate scheduling strategies. It provides the information you need to cope with the present and anticipate the future by means of: Hybrid simulation methodology, Library of process dynamics models, Logic to implement operating and assignment decisions and Graphical user interface for model building and analysis. The use of simulation reduces your risks by providing reliable, quantitative information as you strive to improve the process, increase the range and mix of products, and lower the operating costs and capital expenses.BATCHES performs process engineering calculations and generates mass and energy balances, equipment and resource utilizations, and cycle times and process lags. In addition, it can generate graphical output such as plots and Gantt charts. Also, data from multiple simulation runs can be selected for comparing graphical and textual output to facilitate the selection of the best alternative. An overview of the key features of the simulator will be presented.
