Title
A stick in a haystack: Control loop performance assessment and diagnosis

Abstract:
Control loop performance assessment and diagnosis is an important area with an impact on profitability and safety of operating plants. There has been significant research activity in this area in the last couple of decades. I will describe work done in our research group in this area starting with fundamental contributions all the way up to product development and deployment in industrial facilities based on our research. As a part of this talk, I will also describe ten key ideas related to the conduct of research that might be useful for young researchers.
