Brief Description of Research Area: Electrochemical technologies such as electrolyzers, redox flow batteries and fuel cells are promising devices for applications such as energy conversion, chemical feedstock generation (hydrogen, chlorine, caustic soda, small chain aliphatics) and for longer duration (≥ 4 hours) electrical energy storage generated using renewable power sources. These technologies have a lot in common in terms of electrocatalysts, electrode design, solid polymeric electrolyte, membrane electrode assembly development, porous transport layers, bipolar plates, electrochemical reaction engineering and reactor designs.
We have two positions open, specifically in the field of electrolyzers for hydrogen generation and unitized regenerative fuel cells for longer duration electrical energy storage. Additionally, we are also considering candidates for a project related to selective electrochemical methane oxidation to value-added commodity chemicals.
The prospective candidate should have demonstrated experience in at least one of the following areas: i) electrocatalyst synthesis and characterization, ii) electrode design and membrane electrode assembly testing and diagnostics, iii) porous transport layers, iv) electrochemical reaction engineering and related fields.
