Optimizing Lithium-Ion Battery Cycles for Maximised Lifetime and Safety

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are crucial to support targets set by India’s Nationally Determined Contributions of about 50% from the non-fossil fuel based resources, particularly for the intermittently available renewable energy such as solar and wind power. The performance and lifespan of LIBs are limited by the irreversible degradation in the physical processes that undergo at the electrode level of each battery cell.  These are greatly influenced by the nature of charging (from renewable sources) and discharging (load demand) cycles.

Fundamentals of turbulence (spontaneous stochasticity, dissipative anomaly, irreversibility, geometry and statistics, singularities, intermittency);

• Turbulent transport (pair dispersion, point-source, finite-size and mass effects, deformable particles, suspensions of active particles, turbulence modulation);

• Out-of-equilibrium processes (random walks in random environments, random dissipative systems, large deviations, reaction-advection, coagulation processes, kinetic models).

department Seminar by Dr. Narendra Dixit (IISc Bengaluru)

Narendra Dixit is a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and an associate faculty member in the Department of Bioengineering at IISc. He got his BTech from IIT Bombay and MS and PhD from UIUC, all in chemical engineering. He did postdoctoral studies at the Los Alamos National Lab before joining IISc. His interests are in computational biology, focusing on infectious diseases and microbiomes. He has been a senior fellow of the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance, is a fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, and serves on the editorial board of PLoS Computational Biology.

Hands On Workshop and Conference on Next Generation Sequencing

IIT Bombay is organizing a 4-day event, including a 3-day Hands-on Workshop on Genomics and Transcriptomics from February 28 to March 1, 2025, followed by a Conference on March 2, 2025. The workshop will focus on RNA-Seq Library Preparation and Data Analysis, offering participants valuable practical exposure and technical insights into these advanced methodologies. Attendees will gain hands-on experience with the latest techniques, making it an excellent opportunity for researchers and professionals to deepen their understanding of genomics and transcriptomics workflows.

Prof Rajesh Dave's Talk

Prof. Rajesh Davé Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), and National Academy of Inventors (NAI) is a Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Materials Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).  He has granted 38 PhDs to his students, seven of those have been placed in US academia.
