Life cycle assessment (LCA) is performed to determine the environmental impacts of products and processes. LCA of futuristic scenarios is required to know the environmental impacts of technologies that are likely to be scaled-up in the future. Prospective LCA is a method to perform such an analysis. In this method, future scenarios, such as through the integrated assessment models, are used to edit the LCA database, so that the revised database can be used to perform futuristic LCA.
For India, IESS 2047 provides India specific scenarios for the future, and therefore is a possible IAM for doing prospective assessment in the Indian context. The goal of this project is to develop a mechanism to connect the IESS 2047 with the LCA database. The work requires programming to perform the task. The work will require some software programming work and then using the modified database to perform LCA calculations for futuristic technologies like synthetic fuels and green hydrogen.
