The project will focus on developing prototype applications for a few use cases of interest to the chemcials industry. The applications will involve use of AI / ML tools both APIs as well as running custom models on on+site hardware. Applications include image recognition for plant safety, digitalization of legacy measurements and some others involving custom LLM creation. 

The ideal student will be good at programming and debugging. He should expect to spend significant time in testing, coding and generating test datasets. The project focuses more on connecting together tools and APIs into a demo application rather than deep fundamental research. The projects will give the student good experience with nuts and bolts of development of real world applications and the messy world of AI assisted coding and understanding APIs. 

Typical exposure will be to GPUs, LLMs, RAGs web hosting APIs, UI design, data capture from hardware and such aspects.
