Abstract: The presentation will begin with R&D efforts in membrane science and technology at CSIR-NCL. The curiosity-driven research on 'membrane material' science in gas separation, ultrafiltration, chemodialysis, and fuel cells (PEMFC) led to some tech-development/transfer to commercial entities and a startup. Although the startup began with a grand wish of transforming oxygen therapy in India, the need for transition to other areas (H2 recovery from refinery, biogas purification, and air dehumidification) will be explained. The talk will end with some 'wish lists' related to the applicability of membranes S&T in the context of the Indian scenario.
