Phase behaviour of polyanion/polycation coacervates

Complexation of polyanions and polycations results in phase separation into a polymer rich and polymer lean phase. Such materials are called coacervates and have important fundamental and technological implications. This project is primarily experimental and will involve the generation of a phase diagram for a specific combination of polyanion (polystyrenesulphonate) and polycation (polyethyleneimine). Phase behaviour will be characterized using visual observation and (possibly) turbidimetry.
