Porous electrode characterization for Li-ion battery applications

This project aims at the characterization of porous electrodes which are at the core of batteries, fuel cells and electrolyzers. The transport resistance characterization is essential for battery performance simulation and is a major bottleneck in way of fast charging of the Li-ion battery. Similarly, the inhomogeneity in transport resistance is another factor that plays a critical role in the capacity loss in a battery system.
This project will have both, experimental as well as simulation components and will aim at developing a method and a setup to quantify the transport resistance inhomogeneity in porous media. The project will involve use of 3D printed componetns to design the experimental setup.
