Experimental investigation on the role of coating on spouting/fluidization behavior of particles
Fluid-injected granular beds (spouted and fluidized beds) are extensively used in combustion and coating processes. The objective of the present project is to experimentally investigate the role of particle surface modification due to coating on the mechanism of onset of spouting/fluidization.
Spherical and non-spherical particles will be used to perform the experiments. Experimental results will be used to validate models used in the CFD-DEM technique to describe the behavior of fluid-injected dense granular beds.
