Collaborative Control using Distributed Model Predictive Control

Model predictive controllers (MPC) are widely used in the process industry for optimal control of key unit operations. For a section of a plant consisting of multiple unit operations, instead of using a single MPC with a large number of controller output and manipulated inputs, simultaneous use of multiple MPC that collaborate and achieve the desired control target (i.e. distributed MPC) is being investigated over the last decade. This work involves the implementation of a distributed MPC scheme on a system consisting of multiple unit operations.
