Declaration relating to computers: By submitting this form, I agree to the following: In order to avoid virus related problems and to keep general order, the following guidelines are to be enforced with immediate effect:
  1. Various computers are avilable in the lab for student use. Some are tied to equipment, and are not for general use. Please do not use such computers unless you are specifically authorised by me to use such equipment.
  2. Two computers are availabe for general use: sil1 and sil2. Both have Windows and Linux and are dual bootable with lilo.
  3. sil1 is on the left.
  4. sil2 is on the right.
  5. sil1 is primarily for UGs (UGs have priority).
  6. sil2 is primarily for PGs (PGs have priority)
  7. Only authorised users will work at PCs. Please do not get your friends/associates.
  8. Do not crowd around PCs.
  9. Keep all your files in your areas. Files in other areas will be deleted without warning.
  10. Back up your areas regularly. Computer failure will not be an excuse for any delays.
  11. Please virus-scan any floppy you insert.
  12. Please do not try or intall any new software. If you really need to, please check with me first.
  13. Both PCs should be kept "on" throughout the day. This means that the person returning the key at the end of the day will turn "off" both the PCs.
  14. Please treat all lab furniture with care. Chairs and tables are frequently damaged due to misuse. Please avoid such misuse.
  15. Any suggestions to improve the facilities are welcome.
