The study involves measurement of friction force beween a soft solid and a hard surface under a variety of conditions. The soft solid could a an elsatomer or a gel. Effect of the nature of the material, nature of the surface, sliding velocity, modes of sliding and load on the sliding block will be studied. the results will be modled on the basis of chain dynamics at the sliding interface.
