Several diagnostic and biosensor applications require high surface affinity and specificity towards particular class of proteins or cells. To this end, we are developing and testing polymer brush grafted surfaces bearing the relevant immobilized antibodies or ligands. In the initial period of the proposed project, antibody / ligand immobilization on polymer grafted surfaces will be carried out. Subsequently, cell and protein binding assays will be carried out under static and hydrodynamic flow conditions. The project will involve extensive experiments involving ligand immobilization and cell culture.
