Genetic engineering for production of aromatic products

We have developed a S. cerevisiae based process to overproduce a key chiral pharma intermediate using a combination of strain and protein engineering strategies. This
process has been translated to a pharma company. The current project follows up this work with the following two objectives:
1. improve on the catalytic activities involved using rational protein engineering strategies, 2. introduce novel enzyme activities into yeast, towards generating derivatives of the current product.
