Principle:
Tap water initially passes through a Proguard pretreatment pack; removes particles and free chlorine from the water. The water is then pressurized with a pump and then is purified by reverse osmosis (RO). The RO product water then passes through an electrodeionization (EDI) module; reduces levels of organic and mineral contaminants. The removal of organics, ions and bacteria has been monitored using, respectively, a TOC analyzer and ion chromatography.
