• AdsorptionWork in collaboration with M/s Unilever Industries Ltd. on development of mathematical model for dynamics of adsorption of polymer at solid-liquid interface,adsorption of nonionic polymers and polyelectrolytes, use of micro calorimetry for characterization of adsorption
• Ion-exchangeStudy of dynamics of ion-exchange in resins with a view to understand the interplay of pore diffusion, electrical field at the charged pore surface and adsorption/disorption of ions
• Interfacial engineeringStudying various aspects of liquid-liquid interfaces. These include coalescence, interfacial reactions and microemulsion. One of the important reaction under study is aromatic nitration.
• Heterogeneous reaction engineeringStudies include reactive distillation, Friedel-Crafts alkylation and transalkylation, phase transfer catalysis, ion-exchange catalysis, liquid emulsion membranes etc.
